"My answer when he asked was, 'Shut Up!' After clarifying with, 'of course,' we enjoyed celebrating our engagement with champagne and glasses Chris had snuck into the picnic." Though the summer was over, our romance was just beginning. In spite of the distance (Chris still lived in the UK and I in California), we continued to speak for hours each day, travelled to see each other often and built an incredible relationship."Ĭhris planned an elaborate ruse for his proposal to Sara - what was billed as a picnic with friends turned out to be an intimate engagement! "I didn’t see the proposal coming," Sara says. "It was at this moment we realised our relationship had grown deeper than friendship. "In t he summer of 2016, once the buses full of campers and staff rolled away, we were left standing side by side in the newly-quiet forest," Sara says.
